David Wiese smashed five sixes in an unbeaten 66 off 40 balls to help Namibia overhaul a target of 165 and register their first win of the T20 World Cup on Wednesday. The Netherlands, despite a second consecutive half-century by Max O’Dowd, found their campaign in tatters after two losses in as many games.

Having restricted Netherlands to 164/4 in 20 overs, Namibia rode on Weise’s heroic knock to seal a six-wicket win with six balls to spare. Erasmus’ 32 off 22 balls was vital in the match-winning partnership of 93, off just 51 balls.

In the 10th over, Namibia were three wickets down and had two new batters at the crease in Wiese and Gerhard Erasmus. Wiese’s fifty came off just 29 balls fittingly with his fourth six of the day, this one over cover.

Earlier, put in, the Netherlands adopted a more positive approach to their batting as compared to their previous game. Stephan Myburgh came in for opener Ben Cooper and was one of two changes in the side.

Scott Edwards came in at the death and struck three boundaries to make a quick 21* off just 11. However, with a few other Netherlands batters managing to clear the ropes at the death, they paid for being a few runs short.
